I LOVE these shorts! I’ll never buy shorts without pockets again! The side pockets fit my iPhone 6 and the bulky case no problem, plus keys, slim wallet, chapstick - now I can keep essentials in actual pockets instead of in my sports bra :PThe only downside is the fabric is really thick in places, and doesn’t dry very quickly. The lower back has a weird sideways “phone pocket” which is a nice idea but.... when I sweat my lower back is one of the first places to get wet, so this pocket placement is weird. Also it’s awkward to stick a phone back there, but luckily it fits well (and stays!) in the side pockets. The fabric is definitely not see-thru, which is good, but I don’t think I’ll want to wear these on hot days in July/August, since they don’t breathe all that well, and the fabric is 3-4 layers thick in some places.I bought them to wear while long distance backpacking, as my backpack sits on my hip bones and I don’t like lower rise shorts since the seam usually sits on my hips and can get irritating on long days. These shorts are the highest waisted of all the others I tried (I ordered 4-5 pairs of high waist shorts total) and these were the only ones I’d consider truly “high waisted/high-rise” Also, the side pockets are perfect for carrying my phone with my backpack hip belt on, it was a lot easier to take my phone out quickly than if I stored it in my hip belt pockets like i usually do. Also the thigh openings are a bit looser than other shorts like this, which is fantastic because it doesn’t cut into my skin or leave me with sausage-thighs. And they’re just long enough without being too long, no thigh-chafing for me! :)In all, great shorts, truly high waisted, not great for really sweaty situations, fabric is kinda thick, not quick drying, but so far I really like them and definitely recommend them!
