If you are on a budget, these shorts will work better than one could expect at this price point. I tested them on a summer road-ride of about 20 miles, at about 14mph, with moderate amount of workout/sweating. A long list of pros, first, with some comparison to higher-priced shorts ($100+):PADDING: the material on this pad and the stitching are excellent. The pad is a bit larger and wider than expected (especially compared to a narrow road-bike saddle or other bike shorts). I felt some trepidation (and the land-waddle was inevitable). However, the pad turned out to be excellent while in use: no discomfort, no chafing, could have gone many more miles without noticing. This is a huge plus in my book.WICKING AND MOISTURE MANAGEMENT: good, about comparable to other shorts. Of course one gets sweaty, but these shorts managed it well, without any noticeable odor. Worked well.OVERALL CONSTRUCTION: good. This is likely where the difference from expensive shorts shows up the most. They are comfortable while riding. The material is less sophisticated, so the ratio between stretchiness of fabric and elastics is slightly off (elastics are way tighter than the material itself, so you'll have to choose between the elastics -- and the shorts staying where you want them -- or leg compression, in which case the elastics will be too tight). If you are a casual rider, this will make literally no difference. I would have appreciated the shorts to be a tad longer, but, again, no biggie. The phone pocket at first seems really lose, but actually works excellently -- phone is secure, no wiggle, but accessible without fumbling with zippers or other closures.LOOKS: great. They are understated, black, so sleek.Overall verdict: unless you plan to go on road races, or bike every day, these work well, better than many far more expensive brands I've tried over the years.
